What a difference a day makes.

One day in late August 2018, a young girl stationed herself outside Sweden's Parliament - and a revolution began. Greta Thunberg carried with her a single sign, which read a simple message of her intent, "School Strike for Climate."

"It felt like I was the only one who cared about the climate and the ecological crisis," she told the BBC. The then 15-year-old was by alone in her protest, but far from alone in her beliefs. Her refusal to stand idly by ignited a spark in like-minded souls around the globe and began to inspire others to drop the chains of apathy and rise up alongside her.

Within a year, her school strike, no matter the weather, no matter the resistance, grew to include millions of people from around the world to take to the streets and demand action on our climate crisis. Her protests are now attended by globally recognised and respected individuals - from actors to activists. She has rallied our eco-warriors and, in the process, riled those who profit from the wilful ignorance and self-indulgence of climate deniers.

Greta Thunberg has just been named Time Magazine's Person of the Year, acknowledging her impact and influence world-wide.

It all began that fateful, Friday just over a year ago. One girl. One sign. One day.

Mother Teresa said: " I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples."

Make some ripples. Make a change.
